影片讲述了儿子严文海因工作繁忙忽略对父亲严学军的关怀，在家中患有阿尔兹海默症的父亲记忆错乱，回忆与儿子的过往生活，记录下儿子生活习性以及与儿子的相处过程，生怕忘记与儿子相处的宝贵回忆。
The film tells the story about a son called Yan Wenhai, who neglects to care for his father, Yan Xuejun, because of his busy schedule. His father, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, recalls his past life with his son, recording his son's habits and the process of getting along with him, fearing to forget his precious memories with his son.

以贵州屯堡文化为出发点，引申至屯堡文化中独有的地戏面具、建筑风貌、生活方式作为拍摄纪录的主题，展现这为少数人所知的特殊留存的古汉文化的文化特征和特色，对于地戏面具这种传统中国汉文化工艺和当地的独特技术进行纪录。这样以本就鲜为人知的特色生活文化方式为题材,诉诸人类了解自身不同文化的的愿望和猎奇心理。之所以选题为“屯堡”文化，其一是因为屯堡文化的特殊性。
